My Story
Nathan Duval created OF THE VAL in 2022 to launch his official career as a freelance graphic designer.
​
He has 6 years of experience in custom banner production.
​
In 2010, he went off to college in New York City, where he found himself getting commissioned by local businesses to hand-paint logos on storefronts.
​
In 2014 he joined the USAF to see the world. During his military service, he continued painting military graphics on command centers and heritage walls. He also designed morale patches, challenge coins and other graphics used by Air Force personnel.
Born and raised in rural Maine, I have been an artist and adventurer for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't until I left home for college in 2010 that my professional art journey began. Grove Street, the artsy district of Jersey City, was up and coming at the time and I found myself hand painting logos on the storefronts of local cafes and businesses for some extra cash. It was the first time I had ever been commissioned for my art and it felt amazing.

My time in New Jersey made me realize that college was more of an impending debt rather than a personal calling. Instead, I made the decision to drop out and join the United States Air Force to pursue my dreams of world travel and adventure in exchange for my services as a military electrician.
